Emergency situations that bring patients to our office include painful infected teeth and broken dental restorations, as well as cracked and broken teeth. Is it important to see a dentist right away for dental emergencies?

That depends on the emergency. In some cases, like a knocked-out tooth, it’s critical. Many other situations can wait a day or two. When you contact us, we’ll let you know the best way to proceed. We offer a same-day appointment whenever possible so we can get you feeling better ASAP.

Can I go to the ER for dental emergencies?

While the emergency room is an option for dental emergencies, it isn’t the best one. Without a dentist on call who can perform dental procedures, ER staff can simply help stop bleeding, if needed, and provide antibiotics to control infection until you’re able to see a dentist. Of course, if you’re running a fever with pain or experiencing severe pain, go ahead and visit the ER.
