I decided to do dentistry after searching a couple of career paths, and I found that it fits me the best. It has different aspects that I like, you know, patient interaction, working with my hands and then seeing results that, you know, we can deliver. I think the most rewarding part of being a dentist is seeing the patient appreciation of what we do and seeing results and just making somebody smile.
So I went to school in Buffalo, New York, it was a state school, both for my undergrad and dental school. That was SUNY Buffalo. As far as continuing education goes, I am starting to get into implants, which I think is becoming more and more part of general dentistry. And we do a lot of clear braces, and oral surgery, and all kind of stuff. I think going to continuing education, it just keeps you up to date with what is going on. Dentistry is changing and it’s changing quick. You know, there’s a lot of new technologies. New research that is being done, and the continuing education allows me to be up to date and provide great care for my patients.
Meet Dr. Tygran Pahlevanyan, a Dentist Who Loves Restoring Smiles
Dr. Tygran Pahlevanyan received his undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences from the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating magna cum laude. He then went on to earn his DDS from the same school. He was inspired to pursue dentistry by the positive impact it makes on patients’ health, livelihood, and confidence.
He learns about his patients’ problem areas so he can create individualized care plans for each one of them. He especially enjoys restoring patients’ smiles because of the excitement typically involved in the process and the restored confidence they develop afterward.
Outside of work, Dr. Pahlevanyan’s favorite pastimes include traveling, soccer, and spending time with family.
